The Law Offices of Sean T. Desmond, P.L. were opened in September, 2011.  However, Mr. Desmond has been practicing law since September, 2000.  Since becoming an attorney, Mr. Desmond has served on both sides of the aisle as a Chief prosecutor and as a defense attorney.  During his time as a prosecutor, he had the honor to serve as the Chief Assistant State Attorney for Franklin County (2002-2003), Wakulla County (2009-2011) and Chief of the Leon County Court Division (2011).  As Chief Prosecutor for Franklin and Wakulla Counties, he oversaw every single prosecution that occurred in those counties.  Likewise, while serving as Chief Prosecutor for the Leon County Court Division, he supervised every criminal prosecution that took place in County Court and oversaw the Leon County First Appearance Docket each week day.  During that time, Mr. Desmond specifically supervised every DUI prosecution for Leon County and reviewed and assisted with responding to every legal motion filed in every DUI case.  This experience gives Mr. Desmond a qualified perspective to represent those now facing charges.  In short, Mr. Desmond has the legal knowledge, courtroom skill and overall experience to vigorously fight to protect your rights.

Mr. Desmond is a 1996 graduate of Boston College and attended Law School at the Florida State University, College of Law, graduating in May, 2000.  Mr. Desmond began his legal career with Penson & Padgett, P.A., a Tallahassee law firm. Later, in 2001, he joined the State Attorney’s Office for the Second Judicial Circuit.  During his time at the State Attorney’s Office, Mr. Desmond tried cases to juries ranging from misdemeanors to Death Penalty murder cases.

After leaving the State Attorney’s Office in 2004, Mr. Desmond returned to private practice in which he became a Founding Partner of Desmond &Maceluch, P.A. During that time, Mr. Desmond practiced primarily Criminal Defense and Family Law.  After developing his practice for six years, Mr. Desmond decided to leave Desmond & Maceluch, P.A. to campaign for Leon County Judge, Seat 5 in 2008.  Mr. Desmond successfully advance through the primary election in August, 2008 and went on to the general election runoff held in November, 2008.  At 34 years of age, Mr. Desmond received approximately 42% of the vote, receiving over 50,000 votes in the general election.  After the election, Mr. Desmond returned to the State Attorney’s Office for two years as a Chief Assistant State Attorney, after which he decided to reenter private practice to help individuals facing legal challenges. 

Mr. Desmond has always remained extremely active in the community throughout his legal career. Mr. Desmond served as President of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division 2011-2012 and is currently serving as Chair of The Florida Bar Standing Committee on Professionalism (both State-wide positions).  In addition, Mr. Desmond has a voting seat on the Florida Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism.  Mr. Desmond is also currently serving on the Leadership Team of The Florida Bar with relation to the Merit Retention Education Program.   Mr. Desmond also holds a seat on the Executive Council of The Florida Bar’s General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Section.  Mr. Desmond is also the Treasurer of the William Stafford Inns of Court in Tallahassee, Florida. 

Moreover, Mr. Desmond has served as the President of the Midtown Merchants Association, a non-profit Florida Corporation dedicated to improving the Tallahassee community.
